A Bentley Continental GT rammed into a tram in Zurich yesterday derailing it by more than 4 meters, a local magazine reports. The 11:17 am incident occurred at the Pelikanplatz intersection, the tram was travelling from Stauffacher to Paradeplatz. The impact forced the tram out of its lines and into a nearby park, no one was hurt in the tram but the driver of the Bentley sustained minor injuries.
The tram itself is not an easy target to push off or derail given it travels at low speeds of roughly 10 km/h (and its body mass of course); but the Bentley weighing up to 2,400 kg and producing over 650 nm torque at just 1700rpm can easily cause such a bizarre derailment as seen in the photos.
