With a total of 500 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque on tap from its V8 engine, the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 has proven to be particularly potent on the racetrack. It has proven so good in fact that Ford has launched the Shelby Mustang GT350R to directly rival it.

Unsurprisingly however, Texas based tuner Hennessey Performance wasn’t satisfied with those figures and is currently developing its HPE1000 package for the American muscle car and the following clip shows it on the dyno and delivering 807 hp and 706 lb-ft at the rear wheels.

That additional power and torque has been achieved courtesy of a 2.9-litre supercharger, new intercooler, high flow fuel injectors and a selection of other engine modifications.
