While the BMW M1 ProCar Championship was only held for two seasons, it did lead to the creation of the exceptionally potent M1 ProCar racer. As the name implies, the M1 ProCar was based around the road-legal M1 sports car but turned the insanity dial up to 12.
Beneath the skin, the car is powered by a 3.5-litre inline-six cylinder engine delivering a truly epic 470 hp. When combined with a light kerb weight as well as some focused aerodynamics from the German marque, the M1 ProCar is a real beast. As the following video from Spa-Francorchamps shows, it also breaths fire like no other racer we’ve seen!
