Not long after it was revealed that Spyker’s bankruptcy had been declared null and void, we’ve been tipped off to the fact that Spyker is already planning a relaunch and it could involve both electric cars and electric planes.
Spyker chief executive Victor Muller has reportedly teamed up with U.S. company Volta Volare which specialises in creating electric airplanes. With the help of Volta Volare, Muller is reportedly planning on creating both Spyker branded electric planes and electric cars.
Our source suggests that Muller is being backed by an extremely wealthy investor and that a prototype of the electric plane has already been created. Additionally, a scale model prototype of the Spyker electric car is reportedly ready for preliminary testing and could form the new backbone of the sports car manufacturer.
Prior to Spyker’s latest round of financial woes, there were suggestions that both the Spyker B6 Venator coupe and convertible models were on the cards for production. Additionally, a production-variant of the Spyker D12 offroader has been rumoured for many years now. It appears as though Victor Muller is using the brand to diversify its projects and while moving into electric planes and cars is unconventional, it could provide Spyker with the revenue it so desperately needs.
