The 2014 Maserati Trofeo MC World Series Vallelunga shakedown took place this past weekend at the Vallelunga circuit in Italy. It was a two-day test that was attended by over 20 drivers and 24 cars. This is in preparation for the new and fifth season which kicks off on May 2nd at Spa, Belgium. The season opener will take place on the same weekend as the FIAWEC Spa round. In fact, all 2014 races for the Maserati Trofeo MC World Series will coincide with other major world racing series.
The second round of the season will take place on May 31 at the Hungaroring in Hungary, this will be the same weekend when round 3 of DTM will take place. Round 3 of the 2014 Maserati Trofeo MC World Series will take place on July 20th, it will be the final race for the European rounds which will coincide with the International GT open at the Silverstone circuit.
Round 4 of the 2014 Maserati Trofeo MC World Serie will be head over to the US on August 24 at the Virginia International Raceway, same weekend which the TUDOR championship will be running at the Virginia International Raceway. The next stop will be in Shanghai, China on October 12, sharing the track with the WTCC cars. The season finale will take place at the Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit on December 11, same time as the Abu Dhabi 12 Hour.
The Maserati Trofeo MC World Series has seen a lot of progressive growth; in the past season a total of 70 drivers from 22 countries took part in this one-make series. This year, the number is expected to impress too. The cost of racing in the official test session and three European rounds is €70.000 while the entire season costs €130.000.
For the new season, new changes have been introduced especially in the aerodynamics, a new rear diffuser, new front splitter and the introduction of a flat undertray to increase downforce.
