The Walklett family, original founders of the Ginetta name, are working on their first sports car for a decade. The new car will be mid-engined, produced under the company name ‘Dare’ and will feature Ford’s 2.0 liter Ecoboost turbo engine. It’s being billed as a rival to the Lotus Elise and the Ginetta G40. The company are likely to produce the new car out of premises in Colchester, Essex.

Dare still produce classic Ginetta models at this location including the Ginetta G4 and the Ginetta G12. The new model will feature around 250bhp with an emphasis on road performance to differentiate it from the Ginetta G40 which is more track biased. It will get a fiberglass body which will help keep weight down to between 750 and 800kg. It will come with modern conveniences such as electric windows and air-conditioning too.

The projected price is around £30,000. We’ll let you know when we hear more details!
