I guess most of us never heard of the TNK-55 Targa, but this one-off is currently for sale at Mobile.de. It is clear this extravagant car is based on the Lamborghini Countach, the mid-engined supercar that was produced from 1974 to 1990.
The design of the Countach both pioneered and popularized the wedge-shaped, sharply angled look popular in many high performance sports cars. The “cabin-forward” design concept, which pushes the passenger compartment forward in order to accommodate a larger engine, was also popularized by the Countach. This principle was used in the TNK-55 Targa as well, but the result is a flattened and disproportional exterior compared to the Countach.
The almost two meters wide and very low TNK-55 Targa is powered by a 2.0-liter engine which dates back to 1971, but no further specs are (wisely) given. The total mileage of this home made car is 10.000km. To enhance the retro-styling, the full leather interior is completed with a Sony Minidisc.
