Texas based tuning company M2K Motorsports set a new standing mile world record over the weekend, achieving a top speed of 293.6 mph in their twin-turbocharged 2006 Ford GT.
M2K’s GT is powered by a 5.4-liter Ford V8 with twin Precision twin turbochargers and controlled by a MoTeC M800 ECU. The transmission is the stock Ford six-speed manual and the suspension and aerodynamics were toyed with by Wisconsin-based Ahlman Engineering.
In addition to the jaw-dropping 293 mph (471 km/h) standing mile, M2K recorded a 1/4-mile speed of 161 mph and a 1/2 mile speed of 219 mph. This result speaks volumes about the Ford GT’s aerodynamic efficiency and overall stability at high speeds, with minimal modifications having been made to the record-breaking car’s body and chassis.
