Carlsson unveiled the Carlsson CGL 45 Royale Last Edition recently. We scratched our heads, checked our archives, convinced that we’d seen a Royale Edition before! Earlier in the year Carlsson announced that they had reached a deal with Chinese car dealer Zhongsheng Group Holdings Ltd for 70 percent of the company. Along with this announcement was news of the Carlsson CGL45 Royal Edition designed specially for the Chinese market.
Today we get the Royale Last Edition. We’re told that it will be limited to just 30 cars. 36 different color combinations will be made available, all two-tone. The bodykit is the same as the Royale Edition. It features wider wheel arches, a new chrome radiator grille and Carlsson logo, a modified front fascia and a rear diffuser. Carlsson also fit a quad exhaust system and a set of 22 inch custom wheels.
We’re told that this particular example features a petrol V8, most likely the GL450 model. Peak figures are 360hp from minor ECU upgrade. A range of different interior options will be available. Essentially customers will be able to pick and choose their own combination of Nappa leather, alcantara and trim pieces to suit personal tastes.
In summary, its much the same car as the original Royale Edition. The only thing that changes is the choice of engines. Interestingly, the Carlsson CGL 45 Royale Last Edition will only be sold in the China. Before our Chinese readers rush off to place orders, all thirty are spoken for!
It has got an aggressive look. I am loving it.
