It feels like we’re reporting the obvious when we tell you that the Aston Martin Rapide will receive a power hike within the next six months. It’s been lagging behind its rivals for a while now, offering just 470hp from its 5.9 liter V12 as against the 500hp Porsche Panamera Turbo, its nearest rival.

Many thought the upgrades would come in the form of an Aston Martin Rapide S package, however, Car and Driver now tells us that the more powerful Rapide will instead be a facelift model. That means that the 470hp Rapide will no longer be offered.

Rumours have been floating around that the Rapide will use the V12 from the newly released Vanquish with as much as 565hp. It now appears likely that the power boost will be more in line with the outgoing DBS. Expect around 510hp to be offered.

Testing at the Nurburgring hints that the car will also receive revised suspension components as well as a new front and rear facia. Still no word on when we should expect to see the upgrades, however, Geneva would be a conservative estimate!
