The LA Auto Show is gaining more and more momentum for car manufacturers in the luxury and performance segment. Porsche and Daimler stole the show this year with multiple world premieres each. But also Jaguar, Land Rover, Maserati, Alfa Romeo and new and upcoming manufacturers like Divergent have recognized the potential of the annual Auto Show in LA.

We roamed the halls and took a closer look at the most important premieres. Here are our highlights of the LA Auto Show 2016.

9. Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Executive

The long-wheelbase Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Executive launched this week at the LA Auto Show 2016. As its a hybrid, the Panamera features both electric and petrol power. The all-wheel drive hybrid system promises a pure electric range of 50 kilometers and a combined fuel consumption figure of 2.5L / 100 km. On its own, the electric drivetrain can reach speeds of up to speeds of 140 km/h thanks to its 136 hp and 400 Nm of torque. Coupled with the 2.9-liter biturbo V6 powerplant, output is a lofty 462 hp. It is capable of sprinting to a 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds and an impressive top speed of 278 km/h.

8. Audi R8 V10 Plus with Laserlight

The 2017 Audi R8 V10 plus exclusive edition is limited to 25 cars only and comes with Audi’s laser beam technology embedded in the full-LED headlights. The car made its debut at the LA Auto Show 2016, finished in Quantum Grey, an Audi Exclusive trim as well as a Titanium Black-optic exterior package. Pricing starts at $229,200 for each unit.

7. Divergent Blade

We saw the Divergent Blade at Pebble Beach earlier this year. The concept of a 3d printed car is therefore, nothing new to us! Cost will be in Koenigsegg price range and production will be limited to 200 units. For that, customers will get a car which puts out around 700hp from a 3d printed 3.0 litre V8. Divergent will use a mix of 3d printed aluminium, titanium and carbon fibre to produce components and performance is expected to be around the 2.5 second mark to 100 km/h.

6. 2017 Alfa Romeo Stelvio QV

Powered by a 2.9-liter V6 biturbo engine the Alfa Romeo Stelvio QV puts out an impressive 505 hp, giving it all the potential of being one of the quickest in its segment. Its promised driving dynamics and performance aren’t the only things the well established German crossovers should be afraid of. After seeing it live at the show, we have to say that its design is quite striking too.

5. Jaguar I-PACE

The Jaguar I-PACE Electric SUV is a major highlight of the LA Auto Show 2016. The British brand have unveiled a competitor for the Tesla Model X and promised to deliver on a production model in the very near future. We took a closer look at the SUV concept and the technology that underpins it. The I-PACE is an all electric crossover SUV. Packing around 395 hp and 700 Nm of torque from a 90 kWh battery, the I-PACE will reach speeds of 100km/h in just over 4 seconds, and a range of 500 km.

4. Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster

The new Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster is the more powerful roadster in the AMG two-seater line up producing 557 hp (410 kW) and 680 Nm of torque. The hot new roadster additionally borrows several technical refinements and characteristics from the more track-oriented GT R. It’s currently the second most powerful model in the AMG GT lineup after the AMG GT R, that is of course excluding the track only AMG GT3 whose output differs across various racing series.

3. 2017 Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet

The 2017 Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet is set to hit the market in 2017 with a limited run of 300 cars each priced at 300,000 EURO. The S 650 Cabriolet joins the Mercedes-Maybach S 500 and S 600 models launched last year as well as the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard and Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Pullman. It is powered by the 6.0-litre biturbo V12 engine from the S 600 and S 65 AMG models. In the Maybach, it produces 630 hp through the rear axle via a 7G-TRONIC gearbox.

2. 2017 Porsche 911 RSR

The 2017 Porsche 911 RSR hit the stage at the LA Auto Show 2016 yesterday morning. The Porsche 911 RSR is the biggest revolution in 911 motorsport history. The four-litre, flat-six unit is now positioned in front of the rear axle, as far forward as Porsche are able. The RSR is completely new with a new suspension, body structure, aerodynamic package and modified engine and transmission.

1. 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63

Our main highlight of the LA Auto Show 2016 was the 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63, here in LA, Mercedes brought the Edition 1 model which will only be available in the first year of production only. Top of the range is the Mercedes-AMG E63 S which produces 612hp from the 4.0L V8 Biturbo engine. Torque figures read an impressive 850 nm, and the acceleration is something to devour too – 0-100 km/h in just 3.4s.
