Porsche recently revealed their strategy concerning electric vehicles and put their plans to rededicate their Zuffenhausen plant to the development and production of future EVs in motion. While it will still take a couple of years before Porsche reveal the production version of their at the 2015 IAA revealed Mission-E EV, it seems like the German sports car brand is also working on a SUV version of the Mission-E.

While it’s yet to be confirmed whether an all-electric Porsche SUV will indeed make it to production, it seems very likely that Porsche will go ahead once production of the Mission-E is at full speed. If economies of scale could be achieved and yield a possible launch of the SUV, we expect it no earlier than early next decade.

Rumors say the concept could be very affiliated with the Porsche Cayenne and could come in the form of a Cayenne Coupe. Seeing what Audi is currently up to with their Q6 e-tron Quattro which is due for release in 2018, it makes sense that the new electric SUV concept hints at a mix of both the Cayenne’s design and some of Audi’s technology.
