Porsche Boxster

On the back of recent spy shots emerging depicting a more potent variant of the Porsche Boxster, reports indicated that it could be an extreme GT4 variant somewhat similar to the impending Porsche Cayman GT4. More recent rumours have indicated that it could be called the Boxster RS but now those claims have been superseded by one’s suggesting the car could be named the Club Sport and might not be any more powerful than the Boxster GTS.

While speaking with Autocar at the Detroit Motor Show 2015, the company’s boss Wolgang Hatz did confirm that a more potent Boxster derivative is on the cards but confirmed it won’t be dubbed the Boxster GT4.

While some have claimed the range-topping Porsche Boxster could deliver upwards of 450 hp, it is now believed that it will utilise the same 330 hp 3.4-litre flat-six petrol engine as the existing Boxster GTS. Rather than boosting the car’s power and torque figures, Porsche will apparently work its magic on ensuring the sports car is as light as possible while also tweaking the model’s chassis.

Visually, test mules have shown that the new Porsche Boxster Club Sport will feature a ducktail lip spoiler, new wheels and tyre package alongside a new front fascia with enlarged air intakes and a thoroughly revised bumper.
