Part of Aston Martin’s upcoming model offensive is their open-top version of the recently launched Aston Martin DB11, the DB11 Volante. The British luxury brand recently announced on their Facebook page they have officially starting testing their upcoming convertible.

Aston Martin also confirmed that the soft top convertible is about a year and a half away of market launch, which means that we can expect the 2019 Aston Martin DB11 Volante by fall of next year.

The luxury GT is definitely expected to gain some weight in its open-top configuration. However the DB11 already weighs 1,770 kilograms thanks to its massive 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 power plant, so the expected minor weight gain shouldn’t noticeably detract from the car’s performance.

The twin-turbo V12 produces 600 hp and 700 Nm of torque regulated through the exception ZF 8-speed, good for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.9 seconds. The future DB11 Volante is expected to be only one or two-tenths of a second slower, not bad for a soft-top GT. Those looking for more power can always opt for the Aston martin Vanquish Volante.
