In news that is sure to excite muscle car fans around the world, Ford may be developing a Mach 1 version of the 2018 Mustang.

The news comes after a development mule was spotted testing outside Dearborn, Michigan that looks like it could be a test mule for the rumored return of the Mach 1.

According to Mustang6G, the S550 test mule has been seen driving around Dearbon for weeks now. The test mule is wearing full Euro-spec bodywork and at quick glance looks like nothing other than an ordinary Mustang.

However, upon closer inspection it becomes apparent that this Mustang could be something very special indeed.

The most obvious change is the addition of quad exhaust tips at the rear. This, coupled with strong rumors that Ford will be bringing back the Mach 1 in 2018, is a strong indicator for Mustang fans.

Will Ford bring back the Mach 1 for this generation of Mustang? Let us know in the comments!

  1. If Ford were to bring back the Mach 1, I hope they do it right. The Mach 1 came with a 351ci Windsor (5.8L) V8 engine as its base V8. What Ford should do with the Mach 1 is produce at least a 5.4L version of the Coyote V8 (330ci) put the GT350 induction system on it, with the GT350-style heads and cams for the Cross pane crank setup, Tri-Y headers, dual mode exhaust with large trapezoid tips, a front lip, Mach 1 specific rear fascia for the trapezoid tips, side splitters, a pedestal mount rear spoiler, matte black graphics and a scooped hood that pays homage to the non-428 equipped Mach 1 mustangs of 1969, wide 19×9.5″ wheels, brembo brakes, magnetic ride suspension, a Drag pack option with the GT350 rear setup with 3:90 gears, Shaker Pro stereo, “Comfort-weave” Recaro seats, Alcantara and leather interior surfaces, Navigation and factory privacy tint windows since the original Mach 1 had the deluxe interior. If Ford is going to bring something back, bring it back correctly
