An intriguing teaser video has just been released by Mercedes-AMG that promises “something fast is coming”.

The short teaser includes scenes from the Hockenheim Formula One circuit in Germany as well as an unmistakably V8 soundtrack. In fact, the exhaust note featured throughout the clip resembles the current Mercedes-AMG GT quite closely indicating that the new AMG model in question could indeed be the rumoured AMG GT3 for the street.
If that is true, then the car will sit between the current range-topping AMG GT S and the inevitable AMG GT Black Series. Alongside a power boost of around 50 hp, the new sports car will feature a bold aerodynamic bodykit including a prominent fixed rear wing and aggressively flared front and rear wheel arches.
When previously speaking with Road and Track, AMG powertrain boss Christian Enderle confirmed that new turbochargers will be installed to reach the 550 hp mark. This is because the current turbos from the GT S are already operating at their limit to deliver 503 hp.
