Lotus 3-Eleven Could be Most Expensive Lotus Available

Lotus 3-Eleven to be The Most Expensive Lotus Available

On the back of confirmation that the upcoming Lotus 3-Eleven sports car will deliver 420 hp, it has emerged that the car could be the British marque’s most expensive model. As a matter of fact, sources at The Lotus Forums indicate it could set back customers in excess of 80,000 pounds.

What that money will buy customers is an uprated V6 engine tuned to deliver 420 hp. By comparison, the Lotus 2-Eleven which the 3-Eleven will replace, delivered a relatively conservative 255 hp. As a result of this additional power, Lotus chief executive Jean-Marc Gales estimates that the car’s top speed will hit around 290 km/h with a lap time of 7:09 around the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife also expected.

Elsewhere, Gales recently confirmed that the 3-Eleven will be based around the Lotus Exige and consequently use the same chassis. Importantly however, the Exige’s chassis will be stiffened and when it is all said and done, the 3-Eleven should tip the scales at a mere 890 kg.

Finally, Gales confirmed that 311 examples of the Lotus 3-Eleven will be produced and that the car will celebrate its world debut at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show 2015 in September.
