Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that it will be moving its headquarters in the United States from New Jersey to a new facility in Atlanta, Georgia.

The U.S. headquarters have been based in New Jersey since 1972 and on an interim basis, they will be moved to a facility at the Central Perimeter in Atlanta temporarily. By 2017, construction will be completed on new a headquarter facility.

The first of the Mercedes-Benz staff from the New Jersey headquarters will be moved to Atlanta by July with the entire move of the 1000 employees to be phased over numerous months.

One of the main reasons behind the move is that Atlanta is closer to the port in Brunswick, Georgia which the German firm now uses while also being nearby the expanding customer base in the Southeast of the U.S. Additionally, the new headquarters will be close to the Mercedes-Benz production facility in Alabama.
