Goodwood Festival of Speed 2014

Mercedes-Benz have released a few details ahead of the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2014. The Stuttgart brand will be featured as the grand centrepiece of in front of the Goodwood House.

The centrepiece display has been designed by Gerry Judah, the same designer for a number of recent displays including last year’s Porsche sculpture. Lewis Hamilton will attend the event in his Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula 1 car on Sunday. It will run up the hill together with a Mercedes Grand Prix race car from the French Grand Prix in 1914 and the brutal W 125 and W 165 Silver Arrows. Mercedes-Benz will also bring an extremely rare Mercedes-Benz 300 SLS and even a wide-arch 500 SL rally car from 1981!

More modern examples of Mercedes machinery includes a Sauber-Mercedes C 9 and the Penske-Mercedes PC 23 IndyCar from 1994. The Mercedes-Benz CLK-LM from 1998 will also run next to the SLS AMG GT3 racer and a DTM Mercedes AMG C-Class Coupé. Road cars will include the SLS AMG Black Series and the A 45 AMG.

The Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo concept will also be on static display with show goers able to drive the car virtually on the Goodwood Hill via the Sony PlayStation 3 and Gran Turismo 6.

Drivers will include DTM specialist Roland Asch, Formula 1 reserve driver Anthony Davidson and Indy Car legend Dario Franchitti. Johnny Herbert and Silver Arrows driver Hans Herrmann, Klaus Ludwig and Jochen Mass, Sir Stirling Moss, Paul and Sir Jackie Stewart, Bernd Schneider and Karl Wendlinger will also be on the hill.
