About two weeks ago we opened a poll, in our forum, to find out what the supercar of the year 2007 would be. To clear out any possible misunderstanding, all supercars that firstly hit the road as well as the supercars shown in worldpremière to the public during 2007 on numurous car shows, were elected. The 10th option was ‘other cars’ because the list of stunning cars was just too long to get in one poll, thinking of the Porsche 911 GT2 and the Aston Martin DBS.
The winner clearly became the on a fighter jet based Lamborghini Reventón, with about 21.5% of the votes. The second place was for the other Italian supercar, the Ferrari F430 Scuderia. The top-three was closed with the Mclaren Mercedes SLR-Roadster. After the jump you can find the complete top 10.
N°1: Lamborghini Reventón:
The Reventón was presented on the IAA Car Show in Frankfurt, September last year. This beast from Lamborhini was designed with the mind fixing on a Fighter jet. The flagship of Lamborghini has a 650 bhp V12 in the back and hits a topspeed of 212 mph (340 kmh) and more. If you want to buy one, you’re too late. The 20 pieces were already sold before the official presentation. Or you might be lucky because there are rumours about 80 other Reventóns to be produced in 2008…
N°2: Ferrari F430 Scuderia:
This was announced to be the perfect race-car. And Ferrari kept word, after presenting the Scuderia at the IAA car show in Frankfurt, last September. The ultimate F430 is running on a V8 producing 510 bhp. The 0.62 mph (100 kmh) sprint is done in 3.2 seconds and it reaches it’s topspeed at about 200 mph (320 kmh).
N°3: Mercedes McLaren SLR Roadster:
This beast from McLaren was also shown on the IAA in Frankfurt last September. The already fabulous SLR and his evening more stunning sister called the SLR 722 has been topped-off. It resulted in the über-roadster because you can do 190 mph (300 kmh) and more with open roof! Under the hood hasn’t changed a thing, there’s still the V8 tuned AMG engine producing 626 bhp together with a torque of 780 Nm which allows you to sprint 62 mph (100 kmh) in only 3.8 seconds.
N°4: Audi R8:
The Audi R8 is surely a decent supercar, but to be competitive with the top-3 it has just a little tiny bit too less power. Although this Audi is the first real Audi-supercar, we can say that the guys in Ingolstadt didn’t fail producing it. Maybe 2008 can be an even better year after the presentation of the V12 TDI. What we can confirm, that this is a fantastic car to drive!
N°5: Audi RS6:
The 5th place is for Audi aswell and yet another car presented last September on the IAA in Frankfurt. The 5 litre V10 with two turbo delivers 580 bhp good for a top speed of just over 190 mph (300 kmh). Mercedes-Benz (E63 AMG) and BMW (M5-touring) can officialy be scared now!
N°6: Bugatti Veyron Pure Sang & Nissan GT-R:
The 6th place is shared with two totally different cars. The 1001 bhp beast, Bugatti Veyron and the Porsche Turbo rival out of Japan, the Nissan GT-R.
The Bugatti is said to be the ‘ultimate’ version of the Veyron weighing 100 kg less and only 5 units to be built.
The Nissan GT-R is a true revelation. With it’s 3,8 liter V6 Twin Turbo producing 480 bhp and 588 Nm of Torque it can reach 62 mph (100 khm) in just 3.6 seconds. When you floor it you can hit 190 mph (300 khm) and more!
N°7: BMW E92 M3:
Once again BMW could produce a fabulous M3. We all believed that would be hard after the close to perfection E46 M3. The new one is powered by a 420 bhp strong V8. After the presentation on the IAA in Frankfurt last September, spyshots on the M3 sedan and cabrio we the hot news. But even without this sedan version the M3 could beat car n°8 in our poll, the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG.
N°8: Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG:
The ultimate version of the Mercedes-Benz C-class couldn’t beat the E92 M3. Although the Mercedes-Benz has 4-doors, 6.2 litre engine, more horsepower and finally is worth to carry the AMG batch it couldn’t impress most of the people.
N°9: Porsche GT2:
Surprisingly deep in the list. This 510 bhp strong Porsche is Porsche’s best and fastest production car after the Carrera GT.
N°10: Aston Martin DBS:
It’s doesn’t surprise us that this extra-powered DB9 is so deep in the list. It’s hard to say, but it’s not much more than the DB9 and it costs a lot more!
Next to these cars that made the top-10 there were votes for the Koenigsegg CCXR, the Pagani Zonda F and the Shelby GT500 Evolution…useless to say these are one by one fantastic cars!
Last but not least we like to thank al our readers to vote this poll!
