The covers have just been taken off the 2016 BMW 340i 40th Anniversary Edition exclusively unveiled for Japan.

As the name implies, the car has been created to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the iconic BMW 3-Series and is based around the 340i M Sport. The most eye-catching element of the car is its stunning Tanzanite Blue exterior combined with silver 19-inch M alloy wheels, blue brake calipers and a black front kidney grille.

In the cabin, the 340i 40th Anniversary Edition includes Dakota leather seats as well as piano black trim. Additionally, the car comes standard with heated front seats, a Harmon/Kardon audio system, heads-up display as well as a leather dashboard courtesy of BMW Individual.

Beneath the skin, the vehicle’s 3.0-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder engine delivers 326 hp and 331 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels thanks to a quick-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission.

Just 20 units of the car will be produced.
