While the Tesla Model S is far from a track-oriented performance car, its electric drivetrain does mean it is very quick off the line compared to many of its rivals like the BMW M5. However, an example of the Model S was recently taken to the Nurburgring with racing driver Robb Holland behind the wheel.

Unfortunately, the car decided it had had enough about a third the way through the lap and went into reduced power mode to help preserve the large battery pack making any chance of a complete full paced lap time in the Model S impossible.
Following the lap however, Holland did say that if the batteries didn’t overheat and go into reduced power mode, the car could be capable of a sub-9 minute lap time which is quite respectable around the famous circuit.
