Official Hennessey Performance Venom GT

Finally, the American Lotus-based hypercar has been unveiled. Tuner Hennessey Performance Engineering missed out on the release at Geneva 2010, so New York was the next station.

The standard setup consists of supercharged GM LS9 V8 engine producing 725 horsepower. Two higher editions are available. By installing two turbos you will get either 1000 or 1200 horsepower.

Performance figures have not been officially unveiled so far. Hennessey indicates the Venom is capable of hitting 100km/h (62mph) in about 2.2 seconds. Top speed will be 262mph. Stopping the sports car? 15 inch, six-piston front, four-piston rear, Brembo carbon ceramic brakes are available at your command.

The carbon fiber body is windtunnel tested and includes an active rear wing to ensure enough down force on the rear wheel drive.

Hennessey is hoping to build ten examples per year at its facilities in England. Four have already been sold at around $ 600,000 a piece.

The official world debut will be helad at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
