Niche British sports car manufacturer Ginetta recently signed a deal with a Chinese distributor to export fifty road cars. It means that sixty extra jobs will be created at the company’s factory in Garforth, Leeds. The company currently employs sixty workers to build around three hundred Ginetta road and race cars.

The deal will help safeguard the company’s future. 80 percent of Ginetta’s car production is now for export. China has experienced higher demand for luxury products. It has quickly become one of the biggest export markets for companies such as Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. It’s thought that the quirky British Ginetta design is what attracted the agreement.

China will be getting the company’s G60 and G40R road cars. The Ginetta G60 was announced at the end of summer last year. It has a Ford Mustang 3.7 liter V6 with a total output of 310hp. It’s part of a limited production run of just fifty units each with a price tag of around £68,000. The Ginetta G40R is a slightly more affordable model. It features a 2.0 liter in-line four-cylinder engine with 175bhp and 190Nm at 5,000rpm. Weight is just 795kg and price is £29,950.
