For the Paris Motor Show 2016, Ferrari are set to unveil a V8 powered version of the new Ferrari GTC4Lusso; the Ferrari GTC4Lusso T. The Ferrari GTC4Lusso T will be the first four-seat Ferrari to feature a V8 turbocharged engine. Previous V8 models have been packaged in small, mid-engined chassis. The GTC4Lusso T is front engined.

The advantages of the 3.9 litre V8 are obvious. Reduced weight (dry weight of 1,740 kg – a 50 kg reduction), increased efficiency and a better weight balance. Add to this, dynamic assistance in the form of four wheel steering and you have an incredibly special package.

The Ferrari GTC4Lusso T is not short on power with 610 hp at 7,500 rpm and 760 Nm of torque between 3,000 rpm and 5,250 rpm. Performance is similarly impressive with a maximum speed of 320 km/h and a 0-100 km/h time of just 3.5 seconds. What’s more impressive is that Ferrari have achieved this figure in a rear wheel drive model!

The engine is the same model used within the Ferrari 488 GTB and the Ferrari California T, as well as the Maserati Quattroporte GTS.

The GTC4Lusso T gets model specific dynamic control systems which include the 4WS system (rear-wheel steering), which is integrated with Side Slip Control (SSC3). Variable Boost Management eliminates turbo lag and variable torque curves (VBM) between 3rd and 7th gear make acceleration extremely consistent.

The Ferrari GTC4Lusso T, gets all the refinement of its larger V12 brother with dual cockpit architecture and an infotainment system complete with an impressive 10.25” HD capacitive touchscreen. The only thing thats slightly confused us is the retention of the name. Surely it should be the Ferrari GTC2Lusso T…
