Chinese fishermen caught a Porsche Cayenne off the Coast of Beihai as they were going on with their normal fishing activities. Experts say that the Porsche had been under sea for at least two years. Reports from CarNewsChina.com say that the area around Beihai is a smuggling hotspot where expensive goods are snuck into China to avoid to extremely high import taxes.
The Porsche which is believed to have cost $160,000 before its fate in the sea sold off at a throw away price of $640 to a local scrap metal dealer. It’s also believed that the smuggler must have been nearly caught by the authorities and thus his decision to throw it overboard into the sea.
