Geneva 2016: Mercedes-AMG C 43 Cabriolet

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG C 43 Cabriolet is the brand’s biggest unveiling at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Closing the gap in Mercedes-Benz’ open-top portfolio, it’s fair to say that it’s quite an important unveiling as well.

During Mercedes-Benz media night we already had the opportunity to learn about the new C-Class convertible with the comfort of some food and drinks. We went for another closer look at the C 43 Cabriolet at the show where it’s displayed with an eye-popping shade of red.

Packing a biturbo V6 that produces 367 hp and 520 Nm of torque, the C 43 is the 48th AMG performance vehicle to be added to Mercedes-AMG’s current performance portfolio. With options such as air-scarf, air-suspension and numerous of other luxury additions, the C 43 seems to fit in well with the other open-top cars that make up Mercedes-Benz current portfolio.

The chassis and platform of the newly unveiled Mercedes-AMG C 43 Cabriolet are based on that of the C-Class Coupé, which is the reason why the rear end – except for the soft-top roof part of course – is almost identical to that of the 2016 C-Class Coupé. The fact that the car seats up to four people doesn’t seem to have a drastic impact on the convertible’s aerodynamics. In fact, with a drag coefficient of 0.28 the Mercedes-AMG C 43 Cabriolet is the class leader.

Looking at it shining in the spotlight, the C-Class Cabriolet really seems to stand out besides the fact it’s an obvious member of the C-Class family.
