MERCEDES-BENZ ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL 2016 MODEL YEAR PRICING AND PRODUCT UPDATES

The unprecedented product offensive continues with a host of exciting new models

August 04, 2015 – ATLANTA, Ga. — Mercedes-Benz USA today announced pricing and product information for the GLC, G-Class, GLE (ML facelift), C450 AMG 4MATIC sedan, and GLE Coupe. This follows the 2016 Mercedes-Benz pricing and model year changes already announced in mid-June 2015.

Arriving in dealerships in November 2015, the all-new GLC300 and GLC300 4MATIC represent a compelling new entry in a thriving SUV segment. With a starting MSRP of $38,950*(2WD) and $40,950* (4MATIC) respectively, the all-new GLC features a powerful 2.0 liter turbocharged inline 4 cylinder engine that generates 241hp and 273lb-ft of torque and a new 9-speed automatic transmission. The versatile GLC offers distinctive new styling, advanced safety systems and a luxurious interior that is substantially more spacious for front and rear occupants alike with an increase of almost 5 inches in length and 2 inches in width.

The venerable G-Class family is further enhanced for MY2016 and arrives at U.S. dealers in November. The G550 is priced at $119,900* and features restyled bumpers, enlarged wheel arches, and larger standard 19″ 5-spoke wheels. It also features an updated instrument cluster and a brand-new and more fuel-efficient 4.0 V8 engine, derived from the AMG GT S and AMG C63 and rated at 416 hp (+34 hp) and 450 lb-ft (+59 lb-ft). The AMG G63 currently accounts for over half of all G-Class sales in the USA. Priced at $139,900,* its engine output is increased to 563 hp (+27 hp) and maintains its powerful 560 lb-ft of torque since going on sale in Fall 2012. The AMG G65 is added to the U.S. portfolio after being available to discerning customers in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East since 2012. Priced at $217,900,* it joins the SL65 and the S65 sedan and coupe in an exclusive price range and features a powerful 12-cylinder biturbo engine with 621 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque.

Mercedes-AMG Performance models with the one man, one engine philosophy of hand-built engines such as the GT S and C63 will continue to represent the pinnacle of driving performance, whereas the Mercedes-Benz AMG Sport models will provide an all-new entry into the world of AMG and a wider array of customers. AMG Sport models are designed and engineered by AMG to deliver impressive performance at a great value, and the new C450 AMG is a powerhouse of true AMG engineering and technology designed to expand the brand’s reach to a new group of AMG customers. Priced at $50,800,* this new AMG model arrives at U.S. dealers in September boasts a 3.0 liter biturbo V6 that has been uprated by AMG to produce 362 hp and a stout 384 lb-ft of torque. Power is delivered to all four wheels courtesy of the AMG Performance 4MATIC system.

The AMG exclusive 4MATIC system has a torque split of 33% to the front and 67% to the rear. This rear-biased torque split is geared to sporty driving and provides outstanding driving fun and dynamic handling. The overall result is crisp acceleration and handling with a 0-60 time of only 4.8 seconds. The AMG influence is not just limited to the drivetrain, and also includes such enhancements as: AMG Adaptive 3-Stage Suspension, larger brakes with 4-pistion front calipers, AMG specific interior and exterior styling, upgraded Dynamic Select profiles, AMG engineered steering profile, axle hardware, and a tuned exhaust system that produces the signature AMG exhaust note.

The all-new 2016 GLE Coupe represents a particularly sporty new model range that combines the beautiful styling of a coupe and the utility of an SUV. Arriving at U.S. dealers in August, the GLE Coupe will be offered in two AMG models; the Mercedes-Benz GLE450 AMG, as part of the new family of AMG Sport models, and the Mercedes-AMG GLE63 S.

The GLE450 AMG Coupe utilizes the same 3.0 liter biturbo V6 as the C450 AMG sedan, producing 362 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque delivered via the AMG Performance 4MATIC system. In this case, the GLE450 AMG Coupe offers a 40:60 torque split front/rear. Priced at $65,100,* it also has an impressive list of standard features, including 21″ AMG wheels, AIRMATIC suspension, COMAND System with Navigation and Touchpad, a brand new 9-speed automatic transmission, LED Intelligent Light System, DYNAMIC Select with 5 driving programs, COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS, Power Folding Mirrors, Heated Front Seats, Power Front Seats, and much more.

The AMG GLE63 S Coupe features the performance of a hand-built AMG 5.5L V8 biturbo engine with 577 hp and 561 lb-ft of torque. The exterior of the GLE63 S Coupe features standard equipment such as distinctive 22″ AMG cross-spoke wheels, AMG sculpted front air intakes and a unique rear treatment with 4 exhaust tips. Running boards are available as a no-cost option. On the interior, AMG Exclusive Nappa Leather and a DINAMICA headliner further differentiate the cabin experience. Three interior colors and a wide range of trim options are available to suit individual preferences. Priced at $109,300,* the AMG GLE63 S Coupe is a step above high levels of standard equipment already available in the GLE450 AMG Coupe, and also adds the awe-inspiring performance, and craftsmanship of a hand-built engine.

Pricing for each vehicle for the 2016 model year is shown below, including the additions of GLC, G-Class, GLE (ML facelift), C450 AMG 4MATIC sedan, and GLE Coupe. The 2016 GLC is completely redesigned, replacing the current generation GLK, with a number of new options as well as additional standard equipment and refinements that will establish a new benchmark in its segment. The new model is substantially more spacious for front and rear occupants alike. The increase in the GLC’s length in comparison to the GLK has been translated effectively into useful interior space. Almost all key comfort factors have been improved in the new GLC, and the model change also brings a marked upgrade for the interior. A modern setting prevails, which is reminiscent of the new standard set by the new C-Class and the larger GLE. In the United States, the GLC300 and GLC300 4MATIC will be powered by a 2.0 liter inline 4 cylinder engine. The preliminary data shows that this fuel efficient powerplant will produce 241 hp @ 5,500 rpm and 273 lb-ft of torque @ 1,300-4,000 rpm. The new GLC features the AGILITY CONTROL suspension with steel springs and a variable damping system as standard. The GLC is the sole model in this market segment to offer the option of fitting the chassis with a full-support multi-chamber air suspension system and electronically controlled, continuously adjustable damping. The AIR BODY CONTROL suspension combines excellent driving stability and sporty agility with optimum comfort and outstanding off-road capabilities.
