Expect a plethora of activities from this year’s festivities given the fact that the itinerary is much bigger than the years before. Noteworthy is the inclusion of a drifting category for the first time ever. The ‘Catch my drift?’ category will be headlined by global stars like Mad Mike, Ken Block and his 850hp Mustang among others. Vehicle manufacturers have also increased their input in terms of show cars for the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2015. Ferrari was among the first to reveal its lineup which includes a Ferrari 488 GTB and the Ferrari FXX K, these will be joined by a new tailor-made Ferrari California T that was announced yesterday. Toyota on the other hand will be bringing six GT86s wearing liveries from their past racecars that were mainly the Celica WRC, Supra from Super GT as well as a Corolla WRC.

New car debuts will include the Lexus GS F, Lotus 3-Eleven, Mazda MX-5, Aston Martin GT12, new Singer Porsche 911 and more. Aston Martin will have the Lagonda Taraf in the mix as well. The Mercedes-Benz lineup will have seven 300 SLRs led by Stirling Moss, the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class facelift will also make debut here. Jaguar will bring four new cars to the festival including the newly facelifted XJ, Bloodhound SSC F-Type as well as vehicles from Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO).

McLaren Automotive on the other hand revealed quite a lineup for Goodwood Festival of Speed 2015 including a new MSO McLaren P1 Alain Prost Edition. The McLaren P1 Prost will be joined by a rare McLaren F1 GT as well as a 650S that will be paying tribute to Bruce McLaren. This and more is what you should look forward to from the festivities this year.

The main attractions at the show will be highlighted by the 1.16 mile Hillclimb where world renown drivers will showcase their skills in various cars that will be no fewer than 300. There is also the Moving Motor Show where the public gets a chance to drive unique cars around the Goodwood Estate. Other attractions include the Goodwood Action Sports arena, Supercar Paddock, Aviation stage and the Rally Stage.

Update: Day 1 Highlights

Check out our highlights from Friday here. Needless say, if you have been watching the live stream above then you will agree that the drifting category stole the show. Kimi Raikkonen also had his moment as he fired up the hill in the 2010 Ferrari F1 car – and so did Mad Mike, Ken Block and Stirling Moss. Eslewhere in the skies, the Red Arrows were joined by the Eurofghter Typhoon as they thrilled the crowd with momentous stunts!

Update: Friday Itinerary

Let me take you through what will be happening today. The Hill Climb drives are the main highlights starting with the Titans, Pre-War, Classic Endurance, 300 SLR, Post-War GP and Alpine. The Rally cars, drift cars and NASCAR will follow before the bikes take on the challenge. There will be lots of Groupe C and modern GT racers as well. The Goodwood Action Sports will have their trials today featuring the FMX show, not to mention the air display.

Update: Moving Motor Show

Earl of March opened the MMS by driving the new Mazda MX-5. Remember, this year Mazda takes center stage at the Goodwood Festival of Speed as they celebrate Mazda Racing. A 37-meter high Mazda structure has been erected at the Goodwood Estate and will officially be unveiled at 22:30 hours. Visitors today were lucky to see a preview of the Formula 1 Paddock, Cartier Concors d’Elegance and the all-time favorite Michelin Supercar Paddock.

There are a few more new cars that we never mentioned above and which will also make debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2015. The new Aston Martin DB9 GT is one of them, it will be joined by two new Hot Hatches namely the Ford Focus RS – that boast of 345 hp – and the new Honda Civic Type-R. Other new debuts include the new Peugeot 308GT, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Porsche Cayman GT4, Clio Renaultsport 220 Trophy and the new MINI John Cooper Works.

Update: Afternoon Stroll

The day has seen quite a number of activities take place so far, including the Hill Climb drives. The highlight is of course the erection of the 40-meter structure to celebrate Mazda Racing. The Michelin Supercar paddock is glamorous as always with various supercars and racecars including the LaFerrari, Ferrari FXX K, Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina and more.
