The second-generation Hyundai i20 hatch may have only just been revealed at the Paris Motor Show 2014, but Hyundai’s racing team is already hard at working developing its revised World Rally Championship racer and has released the following teaser of the car.

This initial test was led by rally driver Bryan Bouffier and is just the first in a range of tests set for the rest of the year and the start of 2015.

While Hyundai is still yet to reveal many details about its second-gen i20 rally car, Hyundai Motorsport Team Principal Michel Nandan did say, “It’s a totally different car compared to current WRC model; the platform is different, the car is longer, lower and wider and it features a new engine, transmission and other components. We will introduce it in competition when we are absolutely sure that it is ready to replace the current Hyundai i20 WRC – we’re not in a rush.”
