Facelifted Ferrari 458 Italia Coming Next Year With 670hp Turbo V8?

According to Car Magazine, a facelifted variation of the Ferrari 458 Italia will arrive next year before the car is ultimately replaced. Right off the bat, this is very surprising considering Ferrari pretty much never does facelifted versions of its cars. Nevertheless, it is claimed that some serious changes are in the works.

Apparently, next year’s Ferrari 485 Italia will feature a brand new 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine related to the one from the new Ferrari California T and range-topping 2014 Maserati Quattroporte. In 458 Italia specification, this engine will apparently deliver an eye-watering 670 hp! As a result of this, expect the new Ferrari 458, possibly named the 458M or 458T, to sprint to 100 km/h in about 3 seconds flat or perhaps even quicker if the launch control system is calibrated to perfection.

In order to avoid the tell-tail lack of sound typically produced by turbocharged cars, Ferrari engineers are reporting working on a complex exhaust system as well as special engine chips to ensure the car maintains an epic V8 howl.

If the new 458 Italia does indeed turn out to be a mid-life facelift, then we can expect to see some visual changes. One area which Ferrari may focus on is the front bumper design which compared to the F12 Berlinetta, is quite subdued.
