For the summer of 2014, BMW has unveiled a plethora of new upgrades for its range of models while also launching a couple new variants and engines.
First off, customer orders for the new BMW 2-Series Active Tourer are being accepted ahead of the first deliveries in late September this year. In November, the 2-Series Active Tourer will be available in M Sport specification which will add 18-inch M Sport alloy wheels, Dakota leather upholstery, new exterior and interior trim, the M Sport aerodynamic package, M Sport suspension and M Sport interior styling.
Additionally, a new 2.0-litre diesel engine will become available for the BMW 5-Series and more specifically, the 518d and 520d. In the BMW 518d, it will produce 150 hp while in the 520d, it will be tuned up to 190 hp and 400 Nm of torque.
Alongside this latest generation diesel engine, the BMW 228i M Sport Coupe will hit the market complete with a four-cylinder petrol engine with BMW’s TwinPower Turbo technology. It will deliver an impressive 245 hp and 350 Nm of torque and will launch the latest 2-Series model to 100 km/h from a standstill in 5.7 seconds while returning an average fuel consumption figure of 42.8 mpg!
Elsewhere, the number of engines for the BMW 4-Series Convertible will increase from five to nine with the addition of a new 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine as well as three turbocharged diesel engines. Furthermore, additional variants of the 4-Series Gran Coupe will become available.
Alongside all these mechanical upgrades, this year will also usher in a selection of new gizmos include high-definition maps incorporating 3D elements.
