How the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 Rear Wheel Steering Works

When compared to the previous generation 997.2 911 GT3, the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 really is a monumental technical improvement on every level. Not only does it feature a brand new, more powerful, flat six cylinder engine, it also debuted a new Porsche four-wheel steering system also available on the 918 Spyder.

While all wheel steering on cars is nothing new, the technology has seen somewhat of a resurgence in recent years and the GT3s system has proven to be one of, if not the best. It operates by steering the rear wheels in the opposite direction to the front wheels at low speeds (effectively shortening the wheel base) and at high speeds, steers the rear in the same direction as the front to improve stability.
