Production-Spec Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG Rendered

Back at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2013, Mercedes-Benz revealed the GLA 45 AMG Concept. Looking completely production albeit with the few extra aerodynamic tweaks borrowed from the A 45 AMG Edition 1, it looks just as you’d imagine an AMG variant of the company’s new GLA-Class compact SUV to look like.

Now, Virtuel Car has put together the following two renderings to give us a good idea of how the production-ready car will look when it is unveiled. Obviously having ditched the livery and wing of the concept car, the GLA 45 AMG rendered here isn’t quite as aggressive but would still fit in nicely with the rest of the Mercedes-Benz AMG range.

Under the hood, the production-spec Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG will use the same engine as the concept as well as used in the CLA 45 AMG and A 45 AMG. That is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit packing a 360 hp punch. Torque is pegged at 450 newton metres and the GLA 45 AMG will offer low fuel consumption. Thanks to the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system, acceleration from zero to 100 km/h will be achieved in under five seconds. The gearbox will then be an AMG Speedshift DCT 7-speed sports transmission.

In terms of looks, the Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG Concept features AMG forged wheels in a cross-spoke design with 255/35 R 21 tyres finished in matt black with a red rim flange. Centre lock-looks are a nod to racing, and the AMG high-performance braking system is evident with its red brake calipers.
