Based on our experience we share our top 10 favorite hotels and resorts for 2014 with you. As with the cars we write about, we only looked for the best of the best! 10. Finca Cortesin – Spain
Very few hotels in Southern Spain have the same service, perfection and serenity as Finca Cortesin. This beautiful sea view hotel is located between Marbella and Gibraltar, only minutes from the beach and some of Spain’s most beautiful golf courses.
9. Four Seasons Hotel – Hong Kong
The Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong offers a great oasis in this bustling city. From the pool and Jacuzzi you have an incredible view over the Bay and Kowloon side of Hong Kong. Major attractions on Hong Kong island including the IFC Shopping Mall are within walking distance and the rooms will make you feel at home straight away.
8. Interalpen Hotel – Austria
Build by the Liebherr family the Interalpen hotel offers traditional Austria with a very luxurious touch. Both in Summer and Winter time it offers a great escape with plenty of activities in the surrounding mountains near Seefeld and a great spa with indoor and outdoor pool. The rooms are very spacious and probably the best feature for any petrol head is the ‘drive-in lobby’ underneath the hotel.
7. Fullerton Bay Hotel – Singapore
Forget the massive luxury hotels in Singapore, the Fullerton Bay Hotel with only 100 rooms is the way to go. The Fullerton Bay is located directly on the Marina Bay with near 360 degree view of the skyline of Singapore including the Marina Bay Sands. On the roof you will find a big swimming pool and restaurant / bar that is one of the hotspots in Singapore.
6. Ciragan Palace Kempinski – Istanbul
The Ciragan Palace in Istanbul is beautifully located on the banks of the Bosporus river that connects the Mediterranean Sea with the Black Sea. It is also the divider between Europe and Asia. The Kempinski is an ideal hangout for a weekend in Istanbul, whether it is to the see the sights and old Istanbul or to party the night away in Club Reina (tip: take a boat to the club).
5. Four Seasons Kuda Huraa – Maldives
Another Four Seasons hotel in our Top 10. The Maldives are known for their beautiful beaches and small private islands. The Four Seasons Kuda Huraa offers the best the Maldives has to offer with a range of luxury rooms and villas and great facilities. It comes at quite the price though so that’s why we put it on number five.
4. Hotel de Paris – Monte Carlo
Very few hotels have the prestige and fame as the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo. Located directly next to the casino at the heart of the action in Monaco it is the place to be. Opt for one of the harbour view rooms for magnificent views over the Monaco harbor and the royal palace.
3. Emirates Palace – Abu Dhabi
Ever wanted to experience what it is like to live like a Sheikh in an Arabian palace? The Emirates Palace hotel offers you this opportunity in Abu Dhabi. Build as a prestige property by the Abu Dhabi government this Kempinski hotel has 1,4 kilometers of private beach (with free WIFI – ideal for dedicated GTspirit writers and fans) and two huge pools. The entire hotel is surrounded by tropical gardens and the hotels interior is so large that you don’t have to worry about bumping into other guests often.
2. Miramonti – Meran, Italy
The Miramonti hotel in Meran is a little hidden gem in our Top 10. This South Tyrolean hotel lies 800 meters above the village of Meran with stunning views of the surrounding Alps. The hotel has only 30 rooms and the service is very personal. The Miramonti is ideal for a weekend getaway, Summer holiday or even a skiing trip. The service will make you feel at home and the views will make you want to stay. The reason it outranks all but one other hotel in our Top 10 is that its also very affordable.
1. Six Senses Resort – Yao Noi, Thailand
Our absolute number one is the Six Senses resort in Yao Noi, a small island off the coast of Phuket in Thailand. The Six Senses Yao Noi will spoil your idea of a great holiday for ever. From the speed boat shuttle from airport to the private pool villas and the butler to the restaurants, everything is executed at the highest level but with an environmental touch. The resort is build like a small village on a seaside hill, there is a ‘town square’ with a library, bar, restaurant and shop where you can get free ice cream around the clock. At night you can enjoy the outdoor cinema on the beach or special activities like wine tastings at the hilltop pool and restaurant. If you can opt for a sea view villa, with views to special rock formations that you won’t find anywhere else.
