Whether you like it or not, many automakers are currently debating convertible SUVs targeted towards a very niche section of the automobile market. While 4×4 diehards would understandably argue that SUVs should be used for light off-roading and shifting cargo rather than baking in the sun with, reports recently emerged that the Range Rover Evoque Convertible would in fact hit the production line next year.
Just prior to those rumors, Newport Convertible Engineering produced a unique 2013 Range Rover Autobiography Convertible to showcase how such a luxurious four-wheel drive would look like with a folding soft-top. Unlike the Range Rover Evoque Convertible, this 2013 Range Rover Autobiography Convertible maintains the four doors of the regular car as well as the rear windows.
The 2013 Range Rover Autobiography Convertible then features a beige folding hard top which incorporates a small window at the rear. While this certainly sounds very impressive on paper, the final result is extremely ugly and for that we’re thankful that this isn’t an official car Land Rover is considering producing and rather an SUV created by an independent company.
With the being said, the 2013 Range Rover Autobiography Convertible would work well for wealthy African safari tour companies or perhaps celebrities with no sense of style and wanting to stand out from the crowd of other Range Rover’s owned by many Hollywood stars.
Belle automobile…
