A couple of months ago, rumors and reports surfaced suggesting that the one-off Pininfarina Sergio Concept may hit production in extremely limited numbers. Well fast forward to today, and new information has been released as well as a possible price tag for the unique Italian speedster.
These new reports suggest that after the Pininfarina Sergio Concept made a successful debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2013 a few weeks ago and after a private Pininfarina celebration in London, the Italian design house behind the stunning concept is now seriously considering the possibility of putting it into limited production. Furthermore, it’s been revealed that five units are likely for production with each to be built in Turin, Italy.
However, this exclusivity will come at a price, with the Pininfarina Sergio Concept set to cost at least $2 million each. It’s said that the Pininfarina Sergio Concept came to life in just four and a half months and Pininfarina’s advanced facility would ensure that the Pininfarina Sergio would be viable for production.
The Pininfarina Sergio Concept was created as a tribute to Sergio Pininfarina who sadly passed away last year and is based on the already insane Ferrari 458 Italia. From a visual standpoint however, the Sergio Pininfarina Concept features completely custom bodywork and the only indication that this is in fact closely related to the Ferrari 458 Italia, is the interior.
It features the same 4.5-liter V8 engine as the Ferrari 458 Italia which develops 562hp. As a result, the Pininfarina Sergio Concept can hit 62mph in just 3.4 seconds.
