Caterham Aiming to Retain Cholmondeley Pageant of Power Record

After setting a new record time at the annual Cholmondeley Pageant of Power last year, Caterham will return to this year’s event with its SP/300.R to try and retain its title.

At the narrow circuit last year, the Caterham SP/300.R managed to sprint through the course in just 61.89 seconds and at the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power 2013, the Caterham SP/300.R will compete yet again amongst a legion of other supercars and track-day vehicles. Just like last year, the Caterham SP/300.R will be driven by Caterham Drive Experience instructor Scott Mansell.

Powering the Caterham SP/300.R is a 2.0-liter supercharged Ford-sourced engine. This small yet potent powerplant manages to produce 300hp and is sent through the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential transmission. As a result of this, the Caterham SP/300.R can sprint to 62mph in just 2.6 seconds and a top speed of 180mph.

Caterham Cars’ CEO Granham Macdonald said, “Last year’s contest was extremely close and we expect it to be even tighter this year, given that there are four British manufacturers attending, each with exactly the same aim.”

The Cholmondeley Pageant of Power 2013 will take place from the 14th of June to the 16th, with three day passes to cost 28 pounds each.
