Amidst talk that Lamborghini is preparing to launch a one-off design to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the company, the Italian firm also recently confirmed that the 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 will be ‘The Final Gallardo’ in a recent clip posted on YouTube.

In addition to this news and video, Lamborghini just launched www.thefinalgallardo.com which gives all the details about the updated 2013 Gallardo LP560-4 while also stating that “It’s been a crazy beautiful ride for the past decade. One we’ve all enjoyed. And now the last Gallardo is here, the final masterpiece of the collection”.

One may remember that the Lamborghini Gallardo was updated for the 2013 model year and received quite an extensive facelift not seen since the LP560-4 succeeded the original Gallardo. While the changes weren’t quite that significant, it did indicate that Lamborghini were going to keep the Gallardo LP560-4 around a little longer than we would have hoped.

However, that hasn’t been the case and it’s very likely that only a few hundred Gallardo’s wearing this new facelift will ever be produced, which begs the question as to why Lamborghini developed it, only to kill it six months later?

Nevertheless, it does mean one thing, and that is that its successor, the Cabrera should be launched sometime late next year, possibly at the 2013 Paris Motor Show despite reports that it wouldn’t be released until 2014.
