Mercedes-Benz released a new special edition customer sport racing car today. Five Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary editions are being released, complete with AMG 6.3 liter V8 engine. The press release states that Bernd Schneider will fit all five engines together with an AMG engine fitter. Probably one for collectors rather than the endurance racers!
The special edition SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary has been commissioned to celebrate 45 years of the AMG-Mercedes branding. The SLS AMG GT3 was chosen from the AMG Customer Sports Programme as it has managed 32 victories for the 2012 Motor Sports Season, winning three driver and team titles in the FIA GT3 European Championship, the ADAC GT Masters and the FIA GT1 World Championship.
The SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary gets designo magno graphite matt paint, first featured on the SL65 AMG 45th Anniversary. The GT3 also gets AMG light-alloy wheels in designo magno graphite and a “45 Years of Driving Performance” logo on the doors. The SLS GT3 gets carbon fiber reinforced platic doors, bonnet, mudguards, boot lid, rear wings, front and rear apron, front splitter and rear diffusor.
Inside it gets a steel roll-over cage finished in matt “designo magno graphite and a matt carbon fiber dashboard and center console. Mercedes-Benz also fitted six-point seat belts and a steering wheel spider in silver. Unique features include a high-strength carbon fiber safety cell on the co-driver’s side and a “1 of 5” logo on the seats and the center console.
Each car will be handed over to the customer at Mercedes-AMG in Affalterbach by Bernd Schneider himself. Customers will get a full factory tour and a race track coaching session if they require it. German price for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary is 446,250 euros including 19 percent German VAT.
