Shelby American released a unique Carroll Shelby tribute Shelby GT500 Cobra model at The Quail yesterday! What better way to honour a legend. Of course, it’s every bit as over the top as you’d expect. 850 horsepower from an American V8. It’s a joint project between Sheby American and Ford Motor Company. The car was build by the Ice Nine Group.
The base is the latest 662 horsepower 2013 Shelby GT500. The Ice Nine Group then fitted a Cobra widebody Mustang bodykit with a Ford Racing 4.0-liter Whipple supercharger. The bodykit includes a redesigned hood and a new rear widebody kit. Shelby also fitted Wilwood brakes and a new set of 20×13-inch rear and 20×10-inch front wheels.
The bodywork colours are Guardsman Blue with Wimbledon White stripes, a theme that graced Shelby’s 1960’s Cobra roadsters. Shelby American will now use the car for a tour of the country, before it hits the road though, it will go on display for Monterey Car Week!
