American muscle meets Italian refinement. One month ago we saw a teaser of an upcoming supercar named the Puritalia. And now the Italian roadster based on the all-American Shelby Cobra has been revealed by the Naples based newcomer.

The bodywork of the Puritalia 427 is made from composite and carbon fiber, and inspired by the styling of the iconic 1965 Shelby Cobra. In order to achieve a maximum of stiffness coupled with a minimum of weight, the two-seater is built on an aluminum space frame chassis with chromoly steel subframes. The 427 has an weight of only 1,089kg and an excellent 50/50 weight balance.

The 427 is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.0 liter V8 engine which provides 445 horsepower and 530Nm of torque, but those interested in more power could opt for the supercharged version which offers 605hp and 640Nm. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via six-speed manual transmission, aluminum driveshaft and limited slip differential. It also features an independent double wishbone suspension and adjustable shock absorbers.

For stopping power, the open sports car from southern Italy relies on Brembo’s ‒ six-piston brakes 380mm at front and four-piston 345mm discs at the rear. The Puritalia rides on wheels wrapped in Pirelli’s 275/35R19 at the front and 335/30R20 at the rear.

  1. Inspired by the Cobra ? My ____ !!! More like a blatant pastiche of the Cobra in Carbon Fiber : 427 and all . Too bad the ol’ man’s gone as he’d be having a hey day in court with this pathetic bunch …. that got their styling degrees from Xerox

This car IMO is shameful and should be receiving ZERO press from anyone !

  2. What strikes me as odd is that Shelby’s burial was postponed due to some sort of a family dispute. Then mysteriously this design and go to market is announced? Curious….the original design language has been bastardized.
