Ferrari Recalls 56 Cars in China

China’s quality watchdog has ruled that Ferrari must recall 56 imported vehicles due to manufacturing defects. Shanghai’s Ferrari Maserati Cars Sales and Services will make the necessary changes to Ferrari 458 Italia, California and FF models free of charge.

There’s actually two separate problems both affecting different models. For the California and the 458, crankshafts manufactured before Oct 7 2011 could cause engine failure which in turn, could lead to crashes. The Ferrari FF’s need to be recalled if they were manufactured before December last year. This is due to excessive oil lubrication circuit-processing residues.

Chinese Ferrari’s have recently hit the news big time. The first story we shared a couple of weeks ago involved the Ferrari 458 Italia 20th Anniversary Special Edition. Ferrari’s Chinese importer angered the people of China by pulling donuts on a historic wall. Only three days later, a Chinese Ferrari 599 GTO wrecked in Singapore at a ridiculously high speed. That particular accident caused outrage among Singapore’s population and sparked worldwide debate.
