The Stig Plans His Autobiography

The Stig Plans His Autobiography

The Stig is planning his autobiography, but the BBC is fighting to keep Top Gear’s mystery driver The Stig from revealing his identity. The corporation has launched a legal bid to stop the faceless show favourite – who speeds around a race track with a blackened visor – writing his autobiography.

The current Stig is the second as we all know. The Black Stig was killed off in 2003 after former Formula One driver Perry McCarthy revealed his secret in an autobiography Flat Out, Flat Broke. So BBC bosses are extremely displeased with Stig’s plans. He could suffer the same fate as his predecessor. According to the BBC, his autobiography breaches “agreed contractual and confidentiality obligations” relating to the programme.

The main reason behind the story is his payment. While the other three Top Gear superstars, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, get quite a fat pay check, The Stig is not so fortunate. Apparently, he gets a flat fee for every appearance and does not benefit from merchandising bearing his image.

Even though he has probably the best job in the world, he might reveal his identity in the end!
