BMW M6

Ones again the Brits have a scoop. The current BMW M6 will not have a direct successor in next year’s new 6 Series line-up. According to AutoCar, its position at the top of the range is likely to be filled by a V8 sports car resembling BMW’s Vision Efficient Dynamics concept.

The Concept was unveiled at the IAA last year and focussed on a combination between lower CO2 emissions and hi-tech technologies. The vehicle packed a diesel-electric hybrid system producing a total of 356bhp and 590lb-ft. The Germans will not use this engine, but instead install the next-gen M5’s twin turbo 4.4 liter V8.

BMW R&D chief Klaus Draeger has said before that a future BMW supercar has to “be intelligent and dramatic-looking, something like the ED concept”. Interesting fact, meaning that the vehicle will be a stand-alone model not directly linked to the 6 Series.
