This year’s Ferrari Leggenda e Passione event has been again record-breaking by selling a fifty year old Ferrari for a staggering nine million euros! Collectors from around the world – including from Europe, North America, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Japan – searched for their own piece of Ferrari history during an organized auction on May 17th.
The auction at the event in Maranello, Italy became another record-breaking sales run when a legendary 1957 Ferrari 250 TR, chassis no. 0714TR sold for €9,020,000. It set a new world record for the most expensive motor car ever to be sold at auction. The €9,020,000 sale price for 0714TR is €1,980,000 more than the previous auction world record which was set at the same place in 2008.
In total, 33 Ferraris – all certified by Ferrari Classiche – and three Maseratis crossed the block for in excess of €21 million in total. Other highlights included: a 1956 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta (Tour de France) for €2,310,000, a 1959 Ferrari 250GT California (LWB) for €2,117,500, a 1965 Ferrari 500 Superfast for €715,000 and a 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/6C for €660,000.
Ferrari donated their last F430 to roll off the production line later this year supporting the victims of the Abruzzo earthquake. This final F430 achieved a bid of €180,000.
Our friends at Italiansupercars.net covered the event and shot some wonderfull pictures of the magnificient collection being showcased. Enjoy the thirty pictures made by them and check out the website for the other 131 pictures.
Personally I would have gone for the 250 Lusso :p But a Testarossa would do me fine :D
Great pictures!
Although I’m not the biggest Ferrari fan, I have to admit that this are great pictures!
Nice job!
Classic cars are great to look at but they are usually awful to drive, they burn your feet because they run too hot and they keep breaking all the time. Yet I don’t care, I want a BB512.
BB512 is nice as well :D Much better looking that the 512TR.
