Camaro SS

Last week we showed you that the first bunch of Camaro’s is ready to be delivered. All those cars waiting to drive to their customers driveway are the ‘normal’ powered V6 petrol engines. Now Chevrolet confirmed that they will bring a 426 bhp strong SS variant of the Camaro.

Only reason will be the competition with the already sold out Dodge Challenger SRT-8. This Camaro SS sprint from standstill to 62 mph (100 kmh) in 4,7 seconds. Not really fast, that’s why we hope the top speed will be above 187 mph (300 kmh), but there are no details known on that yet.

  1. 426 BHP will not take you over 180 mph purely speaking from the aerodynamics of a E60 BMW M5.

The E60 has a drag coefficient of 0.25 and about 23 sq feet frontal area. Including the weight and all that, when calculations are finished it shows that the car can do 207 mph based on it’s hp vs drag. To take a car from 186 mph to 207 mph requires an ADDITIONAL 100 HP just by pure physics/math!!! Which is the clearly the case between the E39 M5 and the E60 M5 and their performance numbers.

That said this thing will never see 186+ mph and especially not with the front design.

Also the SRT-8 Challenger is not close to sold out. Went to the dealer in California weeks ago and when they found out i export cars they told me “You know if we find out you want to export this we can’t sell it to you”.. which meant .. please don’t tell us just buy it and whatever w/ it.
Also they had 5 SRT-8 Challengers laying around. IMHO car is crap. Only good thing is lifetime warrant on drive train/engine as long as you’re first owner …and the $500 monthly payment when you get 0% Chrysler financing.
