Audi recently announced the 2017 Audi R8 V10 Exclusive Edition and showed the limited-edition supercar for the first time at this year’s LA Auto Show. The R8 V10 Plus Exclusive Edition is the ultimate representation of what is possible through Audi’s very own exclusive division.

One of the latest lighting innovations by Audi is the laser high beam module, integrated in the full LED headlights of every Exclusive Edition. Each headlight contains one laser module that operates with four high intensity laser diodes. Each module bundles these diodes into a blue laser beam with a wavelength of 450 nanometers. Finally a phosphor converter converts the blue hue into a very bright and pure looking white light.

The R8 V10 Plus Exclusive Edition will also be the first Audi vehicle to have this new laser technology incorporated with its dynamic indicator lights. It’s not all about the looks of course, the new laser technology enhances visibility significantly and is engaged at speeds over 40 mph and when conditions permit it.

This new laser module wouldn’t be the first industry lighting innovation that the brand with the four rings came up with in recent years. Think of the first daytime running lights featured on the Audi A8 L in 2004, or the first all-LED headlights on the R8 back in 2008. A more recent example are the dynamic turns signals or ‘running indicator’ lights.

The 2017 Audi R8 V10 Plus Exclusive Edition in Quantum Grey perfectly resembles what is possible through the Audi Exclusive program. Each of the exclusive edition cars, of which only 25 will be produced, will get the titanium black-optic exterior package which includes a gloss anthracite front grille and 20-inch 10-spoke-Y-design wheels in high-gloss anthracite finish.

The carbon sideblade is complemented by a Solar Orange vertical stripe matching the racing shell seats, which are also treated with vertical orange leather elements.

Each R8 exclusive edition in Quantum Gray is standard equipped with fixed backrest racing shell seats, Audi carbon ceramic brakes, carbon fiber rear diffuser, front lip spoiler, exterior mirror housings, and fixed rear wing spoiler.

The R8 Exclusive Edition will set you back $229,200 if you are quick enough to order one. Make sure to check out the official video by Audi as well.
