Production of the right-hand drive Ford Mustang has just kicked off at the American firm’s Flatrock Assembly Plant in Michigan. Alongside announcing this milestone, Ford has revealed a number of other details about the reception of the RHD Mustang.

For starters, over 2000 orders have been placed from the UK for the sixth-generation Mustang since January 2015. Of those 2000, 80 per cent are for the Mustang fastback rather than the convertible. On an engine front, 70 per cent of customers have unsurprisingly opted for the naturally-aspirated 5.0-litre V8 which in Euro-spec, pumps out 416 hp. The other engine offered to UK customers is the 2.3-litre EcoBoost delivering 317 hp.

Elsewhere, 55 per cent of Mustangs ordered in the UK have been optioned with the six-speed manual rather than the six-speed auto. Additionally, more than half have been ordered with the Custom Pack which includes satellite navigation, heated and cooled front seats, a rear view camera, Luster Nickel alloy wheels, chrome detailing and a Shaker Pro 12-speaker audio system.

Meanwhile, 23 per cent of UK Mustang ordered have been for Race Red while Magnetic Silver and Shadow Black are the next most popular finishes at 16.1 per cent each. Deep Impact Blue at 10.7 per cent and Triple Yellow at 8.6 per cent complete the top five most popular paints.
