The IAA Frankfurt Motor Show 2019 is underway. We caught up with the Audi RS6 Avant which receives its world debut. The fast estate car was one of the more popular ‘everyday’ performance cars in recent years. For the latest generation, Audi will be hoping to continue its sales success.

The Audi RS6 Avant comes with Audi’s latest version of the 4.0 V8 bi-turbo engine which has powered most performance cars from the Volkswagen Group range. For the first time, the Audi RS6 comes with a 48 volt mild-hybrid system as standard. It produces 600hp and 800Nm of torque. Enough to propel the new RS6 from 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and 0-200 km/h in a mere 12 seconds. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h but can be lifted to 305 km/h with the optional Dynamic Package.

The pumped bodywork of the Audi RS6 Avant makes it 80mm wider than the A6. Audi Sport made extensive changes to the body and even changed the entire front architecture. For example, Matrix LED laser lights are now available, not something you can order on a standard A6!

Inside a modern environment with many touchscreens and digital displays awaits the driver and passengers. The RS typical steering wheel comes with a dedicated RS button for the first time which provides a shortcut to two dedicated and configurable RS driving modes. Regardless of its sporty aspirations, the RS is packed with convenience for daily use; keyless go, seat cooling and the latest assistance systems are available.
